Is anyone in need of some shopping inspiration ? Well, nobody asked, but I'm certainly delivering anyway. With a dizzying number of new pieces hitting the market, it can be downright intimidating to peruse what's out there in the hopes of making a little wardrobe update. But that's where I come in, friends. On a typical day, I do some online browsing to highlight the very best shopping picks of the moment, but today, I'm taking it a step further by showing you what we're personally adding to our closets and including some inspirational outfit photos .
There's no doubt our editors are a stylish bunch. (I look to their Instagrams for my own style ideas.) So when I tell you these new tops, dresses, shoes, and bags are it , I think you'll agree. From the perfect fall shacket that Bobby is flaunting to Eliza's fan-favorite jeans and the maxi dress I'll be living in all season long, keep scrolling for the new fashion favorites we added to our closets in September.
I very rarely wear prints but leave it to It girl–loved label Réalisation to change that. Its latest drop—a zebra-printed maxi dress with '70s-style flared sleeves—is an absolute stunner. Not only does it fit like a dream, but it's proved to be surprisingly versatile (so far I've worn mine with loafers, boots, and heels) and a magnet for compliments. Yep, I'll be wearing it nonstop this fall.
I'm happy to say that my hunt for classic penny loafers has come to an end. Weejuns' Whitney Loafers are pretty much the definition of a forever buy. The brand was founded in 1876 and has been perfecting its unisex styles ever since. It took several pairs to get mine right, and I highly suggest going down one-half size as the leather stretches out as you break them in. Speaking of the dreaded break-in period, it only took me three short wears and now they're the comfiest shoes I own.
I first spotted this dress on my colleague Natalie when she shared her love for this frock in our team's Slack channel, which promptly blew up with messages about how pretty and expensive it looked IRL. It's a simple slip dress with a pretty gathered halter neckline and sleek ankle-length hem (nothing crazy). But in a sophisticated burgundy hue, it's simply stunning. I'm excited to share that when I opened up my own version of the dress, it certainly lived up to the hype. I even wore it to a wedding I attended last weekend and plan on styling it with flats and blazer for casual fall days.
"I recently picked these up after realizing how many light-wash, vintage-style jeans I own. I love the darker wash and the slouchy way they fit. Something about dark jeans feels so much more expensive to me."
"I never wear color, but something about this bold-red bodysuit called out to me, especially after the color showed up on the F/W 22 and S/S 23 runways. It's so comfortable and elevated."
"Mango's new selection line is kind of my latest obsession. This wool coat especially feels so Prada to me and I can't wait to pair it with the matching mini skirt, tights, and point-toe kitten heels this fall."
"I, like basically every other editor on the team, can't get enough of the new J.Crew collections. This plaid jacket feels classic yet so modern."
"I live in Anine Bing sweatshirts. I recently added this silhouette from the Sport line into my rotation, and I basically can't stop wearing it. I love the neckline and the on-trend hue."
"I just ordered this hoodie from the Lapointe x Jonboy and I can't wait for it. The type and graphics just hit it."
"I had my eyes on this Mara Hoffman dress for several weeks before I caved and wore it for a night out. The dress was so spectacular that I didn't want to come home without all of New York seeing it. It subtly nods to the taffeta dresses of the '80s with a modern twist. I'm obsessed."
"This Vince cardigan has taken me very far in life. When I traveled with it, I draped it over my shoulder nearly every day. It adds a fun pop of color to every look. Since it's sheer it ended up being the perfect item to begin transitioning into fall with. I've never seen a better item for layering in my life."
"I didn’t realize how much I needed a pair of cargo pants until I tried this fresh pair from J.Crew. I’ll be styling them with elevated, polished pieces for a cool contrasting look."
"I’m a huge fan of the maxi-length trend we’re seeing everywhere this fall. This chic column skirt from Australian label Dissh is one of my favorites to wear right now in L.A. as we slowly transition to cooler weather."
"Silky slip dresses are having a major moment right now, and I’m in love with this pretty silhouette from Ref. I want one in every color."
"I love this dress so much. While it was definitely a bigger purchase, I know I'll wear this piece for years to come."
"I don't always shop from Zara, but occasionally when I'm in a pinch, I'll turn to them to pull together an outfit last-minute, especially during fashion week. I bought this leather moto jacket to go with a recently bought Cult Gaia feather dress, platform boots, and bag as I wanted to nod to the more grungy trends happening at the moment while elevating them. I was surprised about how well fit this jacket was and the quality overall—Zara definitely came through in this moment."
"If you're still thinking about hopping onto the platform trend, I cannot sing higher praises for these Steve Madden shoes. I wore them during NYFW, and they were probably the only comfy shoes I wore all week despite being the tallest of them all."
"While I technically borrowed this Reco bag, I have to say that after getting my hands on it, I can see myself buying it. It's so well made, and is the ideal little black bag for a night out."
"I've been on the hunt for some time now to find the perfect cropped button-down that gives off Miu Miu vibes without splurging or going the DIY route. I was delightfully surprised when I found this cropped version from the Banana Republic. It not only fits my larger bust well but [also] can be styled in various ways—from being tucked into a skirt to out with a pair of leather trousers—making it the perfect fall staple."
"Menswear ties are having a moment, and frankly after trying it out for myself, I'm fully here for it. There's no more fun way to spice up your suiting than adding in this accessory."
"I feel like I’m perpetually on the hunt for the perfect LBD but finally found the one that feels very *me* with this piece from Sir. The strapless minidress taps into my personal style with a design that is very minimal and ’90s, but also has an hourglass shape that feels directional for this moment in fashion."
"I've been eyeing this Staud bag for months, and I am beyond happy I finally decided to make the purchase. I recently went to London and this was the only handbag that I had packed. (This is very rare for an overpacker like me.) It fit all my essentials while I was out and about, was easy to travel with, and complemented each outfit perfectly."
"While the Staud option serves as my new everyday bag, that doesn't mean I can't switch it up every now and then. This new Mango style has been my pick when I'm looking for a less practical and more fashion-forward bag. It's not completely impractical—it still fits my phone, wallet, and keys, so it's the right choice for when I'm going out to dinner or a fashion event."
"I'm always prioritizing comfort, but even more in the fall. I'm able to wear the best pieces in my closet: sweaters, ribbed knits, jackets, etc. I bought these ribbed pants Kotn after feeling how soft they were in store and have been wearing them nonstop. They were an essential part of my airport outfit. I just washed them after my trip and am already planning on wearing them ASAP."
"This sweater is super oversize, but that's what makes it cool. I also love that it's actually kind of lightweight and airy but nice and cozy. I hate bulky, itchy sweaters, and this is anything but."
"Each fall, Ugg blesses us with a new pair of boots that all the supermodels wear and then they sell out immediately. This year, these are them. I was a bit skeptical about platform Ugg boots at first, but once I put them on, I saw the light."
